Before Your Visit

  • You need to have your neuropsychiatric (NPF) assessment available at the first appointment.
  • The Swedish Armed Forces only approve Mild ADHD and ADD. Please verify that this severity grading is specified in your assessment before booking. The Police Academy has no such requirement.
  • Bring valid ID.
  • Know your current medication, if any.
  • Only card or Swish is accepted for payment. For video appointments, only Swish is accepted.
  • Please read through the information further down on this page.

How Does It Work?

Step 1: Qualification Visit
Both video and in-person appointments at the clinic can be booked. Have your neuropsychiatric assessment ready.

Step 2: Lab Testing and Main Appointment
A referral is sent for alcohol and drug testing to a lab facility that suits you. Here you can view a map of testing locations. Please note that the doctor’s appointment does not take place at the same location as the lab testing.
In connection with the lab testing, we book a longer doctor’s appointment at the clinic in Stockholm, which includes a more in-depth discussion and functional tests.
For this appointment, bring your assessment, all medical records related to the diagnosis, and a list of medications. The records should be sorted in chronological order.

In-person appointment at the clinic only.

Step 3: Medical Records Review
The doctor reviews the entire medical record in detail and prepares for the family member interview and certificate issuance.

Not an appointment.

Step 4: Family Member Interview
In most cases, the doctor will want to meet with a close family member who lives or has lived with you to ask questions about how they experience your diagnosis.

Both video and in-person appointments at the clinic can be booked.

Step 5: Certificate Issuance
The doctor completes your certificate and sends it electronically.

Done!

Important to Know About the Certificate

How long does it take?
The process usually takes 2–4 weeks, depending on your and your family member’s availability. Our scheduling availability may also affect the timeline.

If your case is urgent, you are welcome to request a fast track, but please note that additional costs may apply if the doctor needs to allocate non-scheduled working hours.

How long is the certificate valid?
The certificate is valid for up to one year, provided there have been no changes to any medication and no significant event has occurred that may be related to the diagnosis.

Why is it so expensive?
For neuropsychiatric diagnoses, the Swedish Police Authority and the Swedish Defence Recruitment Agency set high requirements for what the certificate assessment must include. Many working hours for specialist psychiatrists, lab testing, and additional administration/planning of the case result in a price that is often perceived as high.

Other
The doctor can only certify information that is current at the time of the certificate, and it is the doctor who decides what information is to be included. Our doctor does not determine whether you will be admitted or considered suitable for service – that responsibility lies with the Swedish Defence Recruitment Agency’s and the Police Academy’s own doctors. We do not provide information in advance about which questions will be asked during the doctor’s appointments. Once the certificate is completed and provided all payments have been made, the certificate belongs to you, and it is your responsibility to decide whether to submit it or not.

Warmly welcome to contact our customer service at info@lakarintyg.se if you have any questions.
