This is for you who are going to take a course to become a certified parachutist and also a recurring check for you who are a tandem pilot.
You need to undergo a medical examination if you are going to take a course to become a certified jumper. If you only jump in tandem it is not necessary. If you have been a licensed jumper and had a break for more than three years, you will also need a new medical check up before applying for renewal. When you as a licensed parachutist turn 60, you need a new medical examination every year.
The certificate must be issued within 12 months before the first jump.
Common diagnoses that constitute an obstacle to skydiving
ADHD
According to aviation medical regulations, unfortunately, people with the diagnosis ADHD are not allowed to become parachutists, regardless of degree. A special examination can be performed by a specialized aviation psychologist, but the process can be long, very costly and generally leads to a rejection.
Diabetes
Due to the risk of falling blood sugar during a critical moment in the jump, we cannot issue a medical certificate for people with diabetes.
Epilepsy
If you have epilepsy, a ten-year period without seizures and any treatment is required. In addition, a presentation of medical records from all treatment regarding the diagnosis is required. The assessment is made according to these.
